Editorial Approaches
Using Adobe InDesign, we had to choose a 2000-3000 word article about a topic we found interest in and design 3 original spreads utilizing the text. We had to lay out the typography in an exciting way while also incorporating imagery to create balance within the overall design and make the viewing more pleasurable and exciting. I decided to choose an article talking about virtual reality (VR) and the Metaverse and how children are at risk to meeting predators. I opted for a cool color palette for the subject matter and incorporated transparent 3D renders from icons8 to help add visual aid.
Because the next project was essentially taking this design and making it into a mobile view, I decided to combine and show both projects. The main difference is that the dimensions are changed to fit a mobile screen’s dimension which means I had to take into consideration the layout of an article that a viewer is reading from their phone as opposed to a magazine.
