The Last Draw

The outcome:
The theme of diseases was picked as the winner. The entire deck would be themed around various symptoms humans get from diseases, but extremely exaggerated to sell that shock factor. Emphasis on character design was crucial for these cards to succeed, as that is the main attraction for this deck. It was important that each card stood out from the others and maintained its own identity, while maintaining a cohesive art style.

The Scope:
The client wanted to sell a truly memorable deck of cards, something that would catch the eye of someone instantly. With countless decks already tackling all kinds of themes, we spent lots of time brainstorming topics that are shocking but not controversial.

Research and Execution:
As every Jack, Queen, King, Ace, and Joker card was directly named after a disease, these unique character designs needed to match the symptoms that these illnesses would give to humans. We realized that various symptoms from diseases started overlapping, and so we took creative liberties to ensure all cards looked unique from one another.

The logo and the overall packaging were uniquely hand-drawn to match the gross and dangerous subject matter.
