The Discord Debacle: Passion Project

The Discord Debacle (DD) is a passion project; it is an imaginary in-person event I created that has as much hype as your favorite kind of conventions. DD is a place where everyone can attend, no matter who they are, since the culture that Discord has cultivated has become so diverse and unique.

DD replaces HypeSquad, as it was created in 2016 as a marketing strategy to spread the word of Discord. HypeSquad’s intended purpose is no longer needed since Discord is much more widely known now than it was originally, and I believe it should get an upgrade.

All designs were sketched out and then brought to life through Adobe Illustrator to perfectly mimic Discord’s flat 2D style. The logo for an event, an explosion, was created as a 3D object to cater to their 3D approaches.

Convention Specific Deliverables

Discord users will visit this screen to learn more about the convention and purchase ticket(s).

Buyers see an authorization screen; after consenting to share Discord info, they enter their name and email. Next, they select ticket type/quantity and payment method. In the demo, a credit card is chosen, so they enter the card details. Finally, a confirmation screen appears, instructing them to check their email for the confirmation and keep the QR code secure.

Users will automatically get The Debacle Badge in their Discord account for attending the convention, and it’ll only be unlockable during this event.
