Glory Cuts
In my Design 2 class, we were asked to create an imaginary hair salon, a pet grooming salon, or a barbershop with any theme of our choice. The goal was to make sure the service location effectively conveyed the aesthetic of the theme, the identity was original and recognizable, and all products were cohesive and visually consistent. I chose to create a barbershop brand called Glory Cuts, with the theme being biblically accurate angels. The final deliverables for this project were a logo, a business card, window display signage, a service menu, a gift certificate, 6 products that the barbershop would use, and a box kit to hold the items.
To successfully make the branding true to the theme, the illustration style would be detailed and cross-hatched to give an older look. They were first sketched out on paper and then brought digitally into Photoshop. To add, the 6 products were made in Illustrator where the label design was created and the container shape had to be unique and fit with the overall branding.
Glory Cuts is a barbershop located in the bustling streets of Heaven that gives the most glorious and magnificent haircuts. The exterior is clean with light pink marble and golden accents throughout and rich dark purple tapestries hung vertically in the front to portray its excellence. There are pearly golden gates that serve as the door for the angels to walk through. All customers of various shapes and sizes are welcome and their needs will be met based on the kind of angel they are and what they do for God.
